Terms of Service

Last updated: September 21, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Webb Consulting LLC, doing business as Yay! Books ("Yay! Books", "we", "us"), a Virginia limited liability company based in Charlottesville, Virginia. They cover your use of yaybooks.app and everything in it.

By creating an account, checking the box that says you agree to these terms, or using the service, you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use Yay! Books.

1. What Yay! Books does

Yay! Books is a bookkeeping helper for small business owners. You upload PDF statements from your bank or card accounts. Our assistant reads them, pulls out the transactions, sorts the ones it is confident about, and asks you simple questions about the rest. When you have answered, you can download a spreadsheet package to hand to your accountant or tax preparer.

That is the whole of the service. Yay! Books does not file anything, pay anything, move money, or send anything to any tax authority on your behalf.

2. Yay! Books is not an accountant

This is the most important thing in these terms, which is why it is near the top.

  • We are not accountants, bookkeepers, CPAs, enrolled agents, tax preparers, attorneys or financial advisors, and we are not acting as any of those for you.
  • Nothing in the app, in the questions it asks, in the way it sorts a transaction, or in the spreadsheet it produces is tax advice, accounting advice, legal advice or financial advice.
  • Using Yay! Books does not create an accountant and client relationship, an attorney and client relationship, or any other professional relationship between us. Nothing you type into the app is privileged or confidential in the legal sense.
  • Yay! Books helps you organize your own records. Deciding what is deductible, what counts as business income, how to categorize something for tax purposes, and what belongs on a tax return is between you and a qualified professional.
  • You are responsible for everything you submit to your accountant or to any tax authority, including anything that came out of Yay! Books.

Have a qualified professional review your books before you rely on them.

3. Your account

To use Yay! Books you need an account. When you create one:

  • You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a contract.
  • You must give us a real email address and keep it current, because that is how we reach you about your account and your payment.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us right away if you think someone else has got into it.
  • Your account is for you. Do not share your login with other people. If other people in your business need access, each of them should have their own account.

You can keep more than one business in a single account. Each business is priced separately, as set out below.

4. What you may upload

Yay! Books is built for one thing: PDF statements from bank and card accounts.

When you upload a statement, you are telling us that:

  • The account belongs to you or to a business you own or are authorized to act for.
  • You have the right to upload that statement and to let us process it.
  • You are not uploading anyone else's financial records without their permission.

Please do not use Yay! Books as a general file store, and do not upload files that are not statements. We may remove files that do not belong here.

5. Your free statement

You get one free statement, once. It is offered on your first business only, and you choose which statement it is. We read it, sort it and let you download the spreadsheet, at no charge and with no card on file.

A few things to know:

  • The free statement belongs to you, not to a bank account or a business. Once you have used it, there is not another one, even if you add more bank accounts or more businesses later.
  • Every other statement stays locked until you pay for the year.
  • A locked statement has still been read. When you pay, it unlocks right away and we do not charge you or make you wait for it to be read again.

6. Plans and prices

WhatPrice
Your first business, for 12 months$129
Each additional business, for 12 months$65

Paying for a business unlocks every statement for that business for 12 months from the date of payment, and lets you upload more and download the spreadsheet package as often as you like. Prices are in US dollars and do not include any sales tax that may apply.

Each business is paid for separately. Paying for one business does not unlock another.

7. Payment and automatic renewal

Your plan renews automatically every year. Please read this section carefully.

  • Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
  • When you pay, you get 12 months of access to that business.
  • At the end of those 12 months your plan renews automatically for another year, and your card is charged at the price in effect at that time, unless you cancel first.
  • You get an emailed receipt every time you are charged.
  • You can cancel at any time from the Billing screen in Settings. Cancelling stops the next charge. You keep full access until the end of the year you have already paid for.
  • If we change the price, we will email you at least 30 days before a renewal at the new price, so you have time to cancel.
  • If a renewal payment fails, we will try again. If it keeps failing, access to that business locks until the payment goes through. Your data stays where it is while that happens.

8. Refunds

Payments are not refundable, including renewal payments.

You get one free statement, so you can put your own numbers through Yay! Books and see exactly what you get before you pay anything.

You can cancel at any time from the Billing screen to stop future charges, and you keep full access until the end of the year you have already paid for.

If Yay! Books does not do what we say it does, contact us and we will put it right.

9. Your files and your data

Your statements, your transactions and your answers are yours. Uploading a file to Yay! Books does not give us any ownership of it.

You give us permission to store your files and process them, but only so we can run the service for you: read the statement, pull out the transactions, ask you questions, and build your spreadsheet. We do not use your statements or your transactions to train any AI model, and we do not sell your data to anyone.

We delete your statement PDFs automatically. Once a statement has been read and its transactions are saved, we no longer need the file. A statement that has been read and checked is normally deleted within the hour, and no statement file is ever kept for more than three days. Your transactions, your answers and your spreadsheets are not affected.

You can delete a business, which removes its statements, transactions and answers, or delete your whole account, at any time from Settings. Deletion is permanent and we cannot undo it, so download anything you want to keep first.

The Privacy Policy below explains in more detail what we collect, who we share it with, and how long we keep it.

10. Rules for using Yay! Books

Please do not:

  • Break the law with it, or use it to help anyone else break the law.
  • Upload financial records belonging to a person or business you are not authorized to act for.
  • Share your login, or resell or give away access to your account.
  • Try to get around the free statement limit or the paywall, including by making extra accounts to claim more free statements.
  • Copy, scrape, reverse engineer or try to extract our code, our prompts or our data.
  • Upload anything harmful, or do anything that puts unreasonable load on the service.
  • Pretend to be someone else, or misrepresent who you are.

If you believe something on Yay! Books infringes your copyright, our Copyright and DMCA page explains how to send a notice.

You are welcome to use Yay! Books for more than one business, including as a bookkeeper working on a client's books, as long as you have that client's permission to handle their statements.

If you break these rules we may suspend or close your account. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you first and give you a chance to put it right.

11. Changes, pauses and endings

You can leave whenever you want. Cancel your plan, delete a business, or delete your whole account from Settings. If you delete your account we remove your data as described in the Privacy Policy, and we cannot bring it back.

We may change the service. We add things, improve things and occasionally remove things. If we make a change that takes away something you are paying for, we will email you about it first.

We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if a payment is not made, or if we have to for a legal or security reason. Unless we are prevented from doing so, we will email you to explain.

If we ever shut Yay! Books down, we will give you at least 30 days notice by email, so you can download everything you want to keep, and we will refund the unused part of any year you have paid for.

If you stop using Yay! Books entirely, we do not keep your data forever. If an account has not been signed into for two years, we will email you a warning and then delete the account and its data. Signing in resets the clock.

12. The assistant can get things wrong

Yay! Books uses artificial intelligence to read your statements and sort your transactions. It is good at this, but it is not perfect. It can misread an amount or a date, miss a transaction, name the wrong merchant, or put something in the wrong place.

We give you tools to catch this, including a balance check on the spreadsheet that shows whether the transactions we found add up to the change in your bank balance. Please use them, and please read your spreadsheet before you send it to anyone.

You are the one who checks the work. We are not responsible for what happens if you rely on output you have not checked.

13. No warranty

Yay! Books is provided as is and as available. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

In plain words: we do not promise that the service will always be available, that it will be free of errors, that it will read every statement correctly, or that its results will be complete, accurate, or suitable for filing a tax return.

Some states do not allow certain warranties to be excluded, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

14. What we are responsible for

To the fullest extent the law allows:

  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages. That includes lost profits, lost business, lost or corrupted data, and any penalties, interest, additional tax, professional fees or audit costs that come from an error in your books or your tax return.
  • Our total liability to you for any and all claims is limited to the amount you actually paid us in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for fraud.

15. You cover us

If someone brings a claim against us because of how you used Yay! Books, what you uploaded, or because you broke these terms or the law, you agree to cover our reasonable costs, damages and legal fees in dealing with it.

16. Virginia law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute that we cannot resolve between us will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Albemarle County, Virginia, and you and we both agree to those courts hearing it.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top and post the new version at yaybooks.app. If a change materially affects you, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you keep using Yay! Books after a change takes effect, that means you accept it. If you do not accept it, cancel your plan and stop using the service.

18. The rest of the legal bits

  • These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about Yay! Books, and they replace anything said before.
  • If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
  • If we do not enforce something straight away, that does not mean we have given up the right to enforce it later.
  • You may not transfer your account or these terms to anyone else without our written permission. We may transfer them to a company that buys or takes over our business, and we will tell you if that happens.
