Security at Yay! Books
Last updated: September 20, 2026
Bank statements are about as personal as business records get. Here is how we look after yours, in plain words.
Your statement files do not stick around
Once we have read a statement and pulled the transactions out of it, the PDF has nothing left to give. We delete it automatically, usually within an hour, and never later than three days. That matters because a statement holds far more than we need: your full account number, your address, everything the bank prints. We would rather not be holding it.
We never ask for your bank login
Yay! Books does not connect to your bank and has no way to. There is no username to hand over and no password to store. You upload statements, and that is the only way your information reaches us.
Your card never touches our systems
Payments go through Stripe, on Stripe's own page. We never see, receive or store a card number.
Everything is encrypted
Your information is encrypted while it travels between your browser and us, and encrypted again while it sits in storage. Passwords are stored as one way scrambled values, so nobody here can read yours, including us.
Your data is separated at the database level
One customer cannot reach another customer's records. That separation is enforced by the database itself rather than by the app, so a mistake in the app cannot expose someone else's books.
We do not sell your data, and we do not train AI on it
We do not sell your information, rent it, or share it for advertising. Your statements and transactions are not used to train artificial intelligence models, by us or by the AI service that helps sort them.
You can delete everything, whenever you want
Delete a business, or delete your whole account, from Settings. It is permanent, it happens straight away, and it takes the files with it.
We do not keep accounts forever
If nobody signs into an account for two years, we email a warning and then delete it. Holding two year old financial records that nobody is looking at is a risk to you, not a service.
Questions
If you are an accountant or a business owner who needs more detail before trusting us with a client's records, write to info@yaybooks.app and ask. We keep a fuller internal security program and we are happy to talk it through.
